A short guide to Zakynthos Town points of interest.
Zakynthos Town is the capital of Zante, situated in the island's east side. The city was rebuilt after the wildfire that outburst as the outcome of the catastrophic earthquake in 1953. The town was built again encompassing the Venetian architectural style; thus it showcases unparalleled beauty that grips the visitors. 

The outstanding promenade leads to Solomos square which is the meeting point for all the locals. The square owes its name to Greece's national poet and its statue adorns the area in front of the museum. 
The Saint Marcus square was the center of social and political debating during the 18th century, the gathering point for the island's prominent personalities. In the square, you can also find a superb neoclassical building that houses the Museum of Dionysios Solomos, Andreas Kalvos and other Eminent Personalities of Zakynthos. Inside you ‘ll find Solomos handwritings, some of his personal items and portrait of prestigious figures of Zante.

Two kilometers away from the Zakynthos Town, lies the Strani's Hill. This is the place where Dionysios Solomos wrote the national anthem of Greece. Besides the outstanding monument of the poet, the area features panoramic views to the mesmerizing capital.
